Development of the EcoTouristTk Mobile Application
active 2 weeks, 4 days agoThe project “Development of the EcoTouristTk Mobile Application” aims to enhance the promotion of both well-known and lesser-known sites across the entire canton. Since our university also includes the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Gastronomy, we aim to contribute to the promotion of the ecotourism potential of the Tuzla Canton. Ultimately, through collaboration and correlation between the IT sector and the Tourism sector, we seek to utilize all modern tools to promote the region’s natural wealth as well as its tourist attractions—both well-known and lesser-known—that truly deserve attention.One of the main goals of this application is to make it easier for both domestic and foreign tourists to find the locations they wish to visit within all cities and municipalities of the Tuzla Canton.
The project involves the development and implementation of a modern mobile application that will digitally consolidate and present locations of particular importance for ecotourism in the Tuzla Canton. In addition to offering basic information about each site, the app will aim—similar to Google Maps—to help interested visitors reach their desired destinations more easily.
The list of sites will be organized by cities and municipalities, allowing tourists to explore not only places of historical and natural significance, but also those of cultural and traditional value. It will also include a directory of hotels, motels, and other frequently visited places such as mountain lodges, ethno-villages, and more.
The main objectives are to facilitate access to relevant information for local and foreign visitors, encourage the development of sustainable tourism, and promote the natural beauty, cultural and historical heritage, and ecological values of the canton.
The first phase would include meetings with partners and donors such as the Ministry of Tourism, the Tuzla Canton Tourist Board, and the Mayor of Tuzla. This would be followed by the formation of a team of young IT professionals currently studying at FINra University.
The next phase would involve acquiring the necessary resources, such as a GPS device and camera, followed by visits to each location on a list compiled in collaboration with representatives of local tourist offices in each city or municipality. During these visits, several photos and GPS coordinates would be recorded, along with key historical and contextual information about each site.
After collecting and organizing the data into a database, the IT team assigned to the project—under the guidance of the project’s IT manager—would proceed with the development of the application.
