NAIBUS Nature AI-Based Urban Solutions
active 11 months, 2 weeks agoGreen infrastructure (GI) is a “planned network of natural and semi-natural areas with other environmental features, designed and managed to deliver a wide range of ecosystem services, while also enhancing biodiversity”. Such services include, for example, water purification, improving air quality, providing space for recreation, as well as helping with climate mitigation and adaptation. GI can improve the livability of urban areas, but a balance between costs (initial investment, maintenance, and operational costs) and benefits of GI (i.e outdoor green walls, ….) has to be found, considering the characteristics of each urban area. The proposal promotes the development of AI-supported tools to predict NBS efficacy and costs in different urban climate environments based on experimental data collected on pilots and other sources.
