Project Summary:
The SolarShade project aims to install solar panel canopies over public parking lots in Kaštela, providing dual benefits: offering shade to parked vehicles and generating renewable energy. This initiative aligns with the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme’s priorities, particularly in promoting climate change adaptation, enhancing resilience, and supporting the transition to a carbon-neutral economy.
Objectives:
• Renewable Energy Generation: Install photovoltaic systems to produce clean electricity.
• Urban Climate Adaptation: Provide shade to reduce urban heat island effects and improve microclimates.
• Sustainable Mobility Support: Integrate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations powered by the generated solar energy.
• Public Awareness: Educate the community on renewable energy and climate resilience through informational campaigns.
Expected Results:
• Installation of solar panel canopies in at least three public parking areas.
• Generation of approximately 500,000 kWh of renewable energy annually.
• Reduction in CO₂ emissions by an estimated 250 tons per year.
• Enhanced public engagement in sustainability practices.
